Recommendations & Drag-and-Drop come to Google... →
It’s amazing to think about how much has changed with Google Reader since it was released back in October of 2005. They’ve done a great job of making some major revisions to the service by adding new features and tweaking the interface so that it’s easier and more efficient to use. Some of the most useful features that they’ve added are the keyboard shortcuts, offline access, the option to search...

The design of the iPhone is such that all other mobile phones, including those released after the iPhone, look not only old but antiquated and even defective. IMO. (link)
MiShare lets you swap files between iPods →
The MiShare is a matchbox-sized $100 Linux appliance that interfaces between two iPods and allows you to transfer files back and forth between them. This’d be great for bands that want to share their work with people who show up at gigs, and for sharing your CC-licensed music with friends at school or work. It’s pre-order only now, alas.
We want miShare to be both simple and...
Recycline Razors Made from Yogurt Cups →
The “Preserve” plastic razors are made from 100% recycled plastics (in the handle), 65% of which is harvested from old Stonyfield Farm yogurt cups. If your local recycler takes #5 plastics you can drop it off there when you’re done with it; otherwise Recycline, the manufacturer, will provide you with a postage-paid mailer with which to return the razor.
A four-pack of razors...
Swiss DMCA coming down -- 50,000 signatures needed... →
Dave sez,
Who cares about about Swiss copyright laws? Nobody it seems, not even Swiss citizens.
On the 5th of October 2007, the Swiss law makers adopted a new law to comply with the WIPO treaties. Thanks to the entertainment lobbies, apart from criminalizing DRM circumvention devices, you can now win a one year visit in jail if you share a copyrighted file on a P2P network.

Driver tasered for refusing to sign traffic ticket →
Driver with his family gets pulled over. When officer won’t point out speed limit sign driver was accused of ignoring, driver refuses to sign ticket. Officer shoots man with taser, lets him fall and cut his head, then arrests him.
As the hero explained to a colleague a few minutes later, Massey [the driver] was “making me nervous as hell” by his insistence on being treated as...

This special edition Koenigsegg CCX-R not only runs on biofuel, it actually produces more power than the standard gasoline-powered CCX.
By following conscientious and forward thinking strategies, Koenigsegg has managed to create the Bio Fuel Powered CCXR - environmentally friendly 1200 with even more spectacular performance than the standard CCX. These two almost conflicting results are made...
Cyber Familator Lite Adapter Plays Famicom... →
This fantastic bit of hardware called the “CYBER Familator Lite” is an adapter that lets you plug Famicom cartridges directly into the unit to be played on your Nintendo DS. (The “Famicom” was known as the NES here in the States.)
If I’m not mistaken, the pin layout on Famicom carts was different than NES carts, so this one probably won’t work with North...
OK Go's LED Jackets →
Pop band OK Go will be wearing these lovely LED-infused jackets on their next tour, which spell out the name of the band.
Rising star of modern design, Moritz Waldemeyer, is collaborating with the quirky kings of Geek Rock, OK Go, to fashion a new kind of stage performance. The band recently approached Waldemeyer to design the costumes for their latest performance, and his solution quite...
Bright Blind Offers a Fake Office Window →
I can’t quite determine if this “Bright Blind” by designer “Mongoose” is in production yet—that it’s on GNR8 strongly suggests that it is not—but it’s got success written all over it. The artificially backlit blind works as both an amusing cubicle or windowless office accessory and as a legitimate attempt at fooling yourself into believing you are...

Where is my happy face - From Uneetee →
Aaron has sent in an article about Uneetee and when I was checking out the site I came across the “Where is my happy face” T-shirt which I thought was a lot of fun, shame they are mostly out of stock but they do have a reprint button similar to threadless. Anyway, thanks for the article Aaron, your $25 threadless gift certificate is on the way!

Feeling lucky? Firefox 3 beta 1 now downloadable →
Filed under: Software, Open Source, Beta Beat
Running beta versions of your primary browser is a little like converting your car to run on cooking oil biodiesel. It’s probably going to work OK, but be prepared for a few surprises along the journey. If you’re ready for the social, swing by the Mozillaplex and download your copy of Firefox 3.0 beta 1, but note the warning: “We do...

Working iPod trapped in resin for art's sake →
Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Humor, iPod Family, Odds and ends
Engadget brings us this exploded iPod (that poor site is getting beat up today), which has been dissembled and placed in a protective block of carbonite translucent resin. Why? Don’t ask why— it’s, like, art, man. Billy Chasen is the artist in question, and here’s the best part of the whole story: that...
GameBoy App for iPhone released →
Filed under: Gaming, iPod Family, iPhone
A group of iPhone hackers has just released version 0.0.5 of gpSPhone. gpSPhone is a GameBoy Advanced emulator for iPhone. As with all first releases, it’s still a bit on the iffy side. Although “many games are playable”, sound output is pretty awful and the GUI and instructions are being worked on. If you feel like giving this a try,...

Dustin sez, “After reading Friday’s XKCD (#340) [Ed note: in which the punchline involves a love-letter written to the narrator’s master boot record], I was inspired to write a program that does exactly that — it writes a ‘love note’ to your computers MBR, except in a neat twist it displays the ‘love note’ on bootup. There is a screenshot. There is...

Library's clever answer to network filtering →
Dana sez, “Saw this in the San Clemente, Ca library. I was performing my magic
show and took this poor pic on my Treo.
The ‘unfiltered’ side faces the reference desk so the librarians can
monitor usage but they say it has reduced abuse and given adults
uncensored access to the internet.”

Pregnancy products with funny names
Least Likely to Breed carries a range of delightfully named pregnancy products, from “Tough Titties Nipple Rub” to “Roid Rage Hemerrhoid Remedy” — as well as a diaper salve called “Bad Ass Booty Balm.” I have no idea if the stuff is any good, but the product names are great.
